We feel it is important that children learn the value of giving to others and being responsible citizens. If this idea is presented to them at an early stage it is much more likely to carry over into the rest of their lives. There are two ways we participate in community service with the children.
The month of November is our annual Can Food Drive. We try to fill a wheel barrel and at least one wagon. We have been known to fill two wagons. We collect these food items and donate them to the church. The Heartland Church of Christ has a food pantry that serves this community. The number of requests for assistance increases during the months of November and December. We use this opportunity to help replenish the food pantry and teach the children a lesson in service.
